OMG! Why we can't get out of food? It's not that what we think about everyday but it is for the cook like me. Yeah, because I am the cook at home for my family, I'm losing it. LOL.
But you know and probably you have noticed that my family loves noodles (chowmein or pancit) as shown and featured in my blogs. The cook loves noodles and pasta and we must have them once a week. It means I have to cook pancit, or pasta in the form of spaghetti 4x a month. I am not an Italian nor a Chinese. Filipinos like everything noodles especially pancit because this kind of food is a healthy choice and symbolize long life. Carbohydrate, protein, calcium, vitamins, everything is in it as a complete viand or food. Pancit bihon a special noodle is always the choice of birthday celebrants. You must have it or it's not a birthday celebration.
I would rather have pancit instead of birthday cake. But you know kids they would prefer cake. Whatever! Who's the cook anyway.
While my husband would prefer roast chicken or turkey. He's got to have turkey or roast chicken once a week. Roast beef or grilled beef steak once a week. A typical Canadian man. Now you know why Canadian men have robust strong bodies.
Did you know that when hamburger and fries were introduced in Philippines and China? Notice the height and or stature of majority of these two races. You think it has something to do with the kind of food or race? It has something to do with food.
Observe the "white leghorns" on how they grow and the kind of feeds they consumed for food and you'll know what I mean. It's not about food? Then go for the LIGHT.

Have A Blessed Happy Father's Day!
Hey, it's Father's Day today! Well, I know right before, ahead of time that's why I had a long distance call to my dearest Father in Philippines to greet him. He is at home after bouts of being so sick of high blood pressure. He was in the hospital twice already, admitted for hypertension and other ailments such as flu and severe arthritis. I told him that I suffered such kind of ailments high BP when the weather is unruly hot. I had bouts of arthritis pain every now and then but don't mind it as in ignoring the pain most of the time and when the pain is so severe have to deal with it with application of "Voltaren" on the spot where it hurts.
My Father is already 88 years old, retired and a certified genuine VETERAN. The gentleman, the medic, the soldier, the brave and the hero, breadwinner of our family. He is the rescuer of the lost and winners, he is a very hardworking man, he was there where people need help. As a soldier his occupation is the much needed work in times of war and progress. He worked for the Red Cross. He was there where the medical operation, helped in the evacuation of refugees, helped the needy and helped rescue injured people from the ravage war, devastation of flood and earthquake. He was a relief worker. He is a great man, who worked as the chief clerk, administrative office of the military hospital. He was there to guard and post memos non-stop during the Martial law days and years. I was there with him at a very young age at the hospital when he never comes home because guarding the military hospital and injured soldiers need guidance and 24 hour service and support. I have a very long memory. I remember almost everything. It's just that space is not enough to provide stories of real life actions.
I am more than happy and blessed as a daughter to have a good, intelligent, smart Father. I am thankful to have a Father who always think about his family, relatives, and neighbors and other people who are part of his life. His service and duty to God, family, country and mankind never ends. I wish my Father long life, happiness and good health so that he can continue to provide inspirations and hope to the many would be fathers in this generation.
HAPPY FATHER's DAY to my loving and caring TATAY! GOD BLESS YOU!
Cheers!

Options in Gold
I'm promoting calamansi or key lime juice instead of softdrinks, pop or lemonade but then I realized my son is collecting empty cans of soft-drinks.
I know that's absurd eh? My daughter likes the taste of
key lime juice however maybe that's our option when we run out of Ocean Spray brand of juice and there's no more pop around or inside the fridge.
There's really nothing wrong with key lime juice, it's a simple sweetened drink to quench thirst. It's almost colorless like it's mostly 90% water but it's good for you, for your health and it has Vitamin C.
Well then, if key limes not your juice drink then go back to collecting empty cans of Coke, Pepsi, Nestea or Brisk including 7-Up or whatever your favorite brand. I know some people made lots of money collecting cans. I knew of a person who lived in Manhattan who collected empty cans at the park, and other public places and every day he earned $500/day. If there's a festival, concert or parade that person collected so much empty cans and brought them to recycling depot and made $1,000 to $5,000/day. Unbelievable? It was true. He was featured on National Geographic for his one of a kind occupation of collecting empty cans and bottles and his story brought hope to many people and they also collected empty cans and then now how much each person earns? Rivalry at work will always lead to "empty cans."
Time to cook? My daughter's the cook for the day. Her specialty on cooking fried rice.
I'm craving for fish. We had halibut fish the other day. I would like trout or fresh salmon but my husband hasn't gone fishing, so busy with work. I dug deeper once again from our freezer and found that we have a frozen bag of scads. Scads (Galunggong the best fish ever) are good for some kind of recipe. How about with coconut and jackfruit?

A Different Kind of Lemonade Because it's Lemoncito
Key limes, calamansi or lemoncito is a fruit. Definitely it is a fruit and it's great for juice. A refreshing juice just add water and sugar plus iced cubes and you'll have a healthy lemoncito drinks that you wont ever forget.
Do I have to tell you how key limes are squeeze to perfection? Maybe not! But probably you want to know the ingredients that make a healthy, perfect drink that is juicy and sweet.
Have a clean empty drinking glass, the regular size glass (set aside). Clean the 3 pcs. of key lime fruits first before you squeeze the fruits with its juice in a cup and take the seeds out, then fill the drinking glass with Brita filtered water, pour the squeezed key limes on the glass and add 1 1/2 tbsp. of sugar. Mix and stir the juice properly and evenly. Taste it first if its sweet enough for your taste and add 4 cubes of ice.
What do you think? Is it better than iced tea? Better than Brisk or Nestea?

It's Flag Day Today!
Did you know that it's FLAG DAY today? What is Flag day? Flag day is the adoption of the U.S. Flag on June 14, 1777.
Every country in the world has a flag to symbolize their allegiance to their country and democracy is present and celebrated. Yes, it's the Americans who popularized about flags. Americans flags are everywhere on public buildings, government offices, in the White House, in the military camps, boats and ships have flags, every towers have flags and the American flag was also on the surface of the moon.
Flags are carried by people representing their countries on every parade, games or sports. Flag is the symbol of democracy, rights and privelege of the people of one's country. It is also the symbol of strength and unity.
How about you, what is your flag? What flag you represent?
50 Stars = 50 States (Is Philippines included in the 50?)
7 Red Stripes
6 White Stripes
I wonder if other countries also celebrate FLAG DAY. Wonder oh wander.

Turkey For Dinner
Turkey is not only for Thanksgiving. It is the choice of viand for people who loves to eat turkey because for them turkey is delightfully delicious and better than chicken.
T u r k e y! Turkey.
Roast turkey with the same stuffing ingredients of: ground sage, shredded celery, slices of bread, butter, sliced onions and spices. After 3 1/2 hour inside the oven, presto the roast turkey is baked to perfection.

Halibut Fish For Dinner
Dig deeper through the bottom of the sea...eh? No. He he he! Dig deeper through the bottom of our freezer and here's what I got chunks of halibut fish. There is one big salmon deep down but my husband said my kids wont like chum salmon.
I could have a pan-fried halibut with taosi or with mushroom cream sauce but who cares? I could cook it with coconut milk and desired choice of veggies to go with it but my family likes the same old recipe. The same old task of doing it, deep fry - tempura style.
Fresh vegetable salad with parmesan cheese and Thousand Island dressing+ Halibut and fries
Iced tea to quench thirst
then
Simply it's a tasty, crunchy fish for dinner.
Just like that simple not flashy, not classy but everyone's happy.

Always Looking For Work
In search for work at home? There are too many work inside the house. Everyday I have to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner then cleaning the kitchen and stove/oven after. Laundrywork everyday. Housecleaning everyday, a routinary work actually. Once in a blue moon my husband helps by cooking or grilling his favorite beef steak or roast beef. He cuts the grass at the front yard and backyard and do a little gardening when he is not busy at work being a landlord manager for 4 apartments/townhouse. He's waiting for the other apartment manager to spray bugs off the room left behind by a juvenile tenant who didn't come up with cleanliness and sanitation rules administer within the space she rented before. I think the unit will be fumigated first before he and my son can start the renovation and painting of such unit. I remember when my son came home complaining about the filth he saw in that room and the bed had creepy critters. They carried and moved the bed out and dumped the bed in the dumping site. When they returned home, my son threw the clothes he was wearing and had a shower right away, husband did the same thing. Hope that they didn't carry those bugs in. One of those odd jobs that can freak me out.
Something of an odd work: Scrubbing and cleaning floors, and outdoor walls, scrubbing and cleaning barbecue grill, and Coleman icebox coolers. Done that!!!!!!! We have 3 icebox coolers (1 box measures 34 inches in length and 2 coolers measures 30" long x2 ) featured at the photo image down below.
Now all cleaned and sun and air-dry. Then my son asked me what did I do? OMG!!!!! I want to show him my blogs and if he's not busy with computer games then he can also check the work I did to clean the icebox coolers, the fridge, the barbecue grill, the food that I cooked for dinner. The photo of the food? I will post it tomorrow.
Why too many coolers? Husband is an avid fisherman and some of the salmons he usually catch are over 25-35 inches in length. He needs those 3 icebox coolers for all the catch. Crabbing is also part of fishing because why waste so much time fishing when you can lay the crab traps at the bottom of the sea and hoist the crab traps after fishing. However fishing and crabbing can wait for the time being because fishing is a costly way to do right now. A fishing adventure using the 24ft.long boat could mean very, very costly. Gas is expensive! Only if "boating" is provided by someone else for free. LOL. He owns the boat and he fills the boat's tank with loads of gas and what if there's no catch?
My son always asked me what's for dinner. I wish sometimes he'll do something to surprise me and be the "Masterchef at home."

Opportunity
More sewing project to do plus alterations. Thank goodness I have enough sewing notions in my sewing box. I wish have enough fabric for sewing so that I could make a party gown. Heh, when I start sewing I don't like to stop.
You wont believe that I had two of my winter coats altered/repaired for good. Two of my casual dresses had them cut and turned into blouses. My pair of floral square pants had to do the seam on its waistline to hipline and turned pedal cruiser into pair of shorts. Then something weird happened with my sewing machine. Tsk! tsk! I think it needs a machine oil so that it will run smoothly. I looked for the "sew smooth solution" only to be dismayed that it's already empty.
I was able to cook something for lunch and dinner and cleaned the kitchen after cooking and after every meals. My online account at Facebook is still there and it wont go away. While my Google-Blogger stay positive and productive on such blogging functions and I'm happy with what I'm doing right now.
What to do tomorrow? What to cook? I think every Mother in the world always think first and foremost of what to cook for the family everyday. There are frozen meat and fish in our freezer, there are veggies inside the vegetable crisper but sometimes the recipe I had is old, predictable and redundant, in other words boring!!!!!!!
I get so bored once in a while. You are a robot, android or dead if you don't get bored and boredom is such a menace to society.
Somebody advised, why should I not work? Dude? I'm working already at home. To work outside of the house is slavery. I mean with all the racism and prejudice out there? You have to cover your face and head with a helmet. You must work with the tough face, thick face, armed yourself with your id, ego and superego. You will have to fight to be in the workforce nowadays. What you see on reality show about being employed is the same as what you will endure being employed in the office, restaurant, showbiz, advertising companies, pharmaceutical companies, military installations, camps and supermarkets and schools +universities. Employment should be given to whoever is willing to work and with work experiences but that's not the case here. If you have a job, stay at your job and don't let others grab that opportunity.
What are the opportunities for newly graduates? OJT or On the Job training is the best option for these newly grads to succeed in the workforce. Opportunities are the gateway to success especially for the youth. However when you are over 50 years old and still looking for work? OMG! Is there opportunity for over aged people? Maybe the quilter's club and crochet club would like the happy wanderers of over fifty years of age to join them. So why there are over 60, over 70 years of age working at supermarkets when they are supposed to be retired? Maybe they are stockholders of such companies that's why they are still working there. The rest of these seniors are probably volunteers, working without pay doing loopholes. Or maybe they are members of the "Showshank Redemption." Whatever! They all have opinions that we wont hear unless if we ask(ed) their secrets.
Do they really have secrets?

Practice Makes Perfect
While waiting for the television series which you probably know what that series is... have to keep myself busy. Hey it's Sunday! I mean it was Sunday yesterday and today is Monday. I had sewn two long skirts and all I need are tops for such party gowns. Actually have two tops or blouses for these long skirts. The problem now is, I don't know if my daughter would like to wear something red. She likes red casual shirts, coats, jackets, but for a dress or gowns? That would be a fuzzy frenzy feat.
Before that sewing project: I did something out of the ordinary.
I started with trying to make a springroll wrapper from scratch. However, I must say that creating such homemade lumpia wrapper is not my calling. You have to be an expert in such task. Only the experts can do it perfectly. It's just my first try and my husband tried the first waffer thin-like wrapper made from flour and water solution. Huh!? I couldn't believe that my husband ate that piece of lumpia wrapper like as if it's a holy waffer!!!!!!! I was surprised. Eh, parang " ostia" nga eh. Tamang-tama Sunday. Darn! I wont try that again. I would buy a lumpia or springroll and eggroll wrapper instead. Now you know why you have to think that some work are harder to do than the other work because sometimes to perfectly do something needs time after time, so many hours had been put to place, so many hours of practice doing the same kind of task before that somebody can perfectly become an expert. Husband said I need a machine to have perfect result for such task.
Olympian athletes do the same kind of thing. They have to practice so many times, training is a must to achieve perfection. Pilots, drivers, tailors, cook (watch Masterchef), snipers, fishermen, scientists, teachers (they trained themselves by studying again and again), lawyers, orators, so many of us have to practice again and again to keep busy and succeed with our tasks. Writers do the same kind of training by writing, being a soliloquy, talking to themselves while writing. Writing and thinking are interconnected to bring out results and stimulus.
It's the same thing with sewing. Before you can achieve perfection in sewing you must have a good sewing machine that is reliable and functional. You must know how to operate the machine properly, having the availability of sewing materials, right needles and right, correct proper thread and threading and correct proper fabric for thread and needles. Perhaps consider the correct bobbin too. It must align, connect and link to whatever your task is all about. Always been with the main purpose of doing it right.

F E A R
OMG! What a day to wake up with bad news being aired on TV! What's wrong with you people? Is there any good news out there anymore?
Weather, weather, wether you like it or not.
How about the new beginning of another Amazing Race? The American Amazing Race has ended and Amazing Race Canada will begin in July 4, 2017 with Jon Montgomery (Olympian gold medallist) hosting the contest/race.
June is the month of incredible movies such as WONDER WOMAN (starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine) + THE MUMMY premiered and shown at the cinemas around the world. THE MUMMY is a new version movie of mummy, starring Tom Cruise, not Brendan Fraser.
Last night, my daughter and I watched Tom Cruise's movie VALKYRIE. It's an old movie with a twisted plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler through project Valkyrie. It was an order or plan by the high government German officers who thought that Hitler should not be in charged in the forceful domination of Germany. Remember, Hitler was an Austrian citizen not German. Not too many knew that Hitler, although he was a dictator and murderer was actually a Christian. Weird eh? What's really the true real story of Adolf Hitler that in the movie, too many cried when they heard that Adolf Hitler died. NAZISM could be the last act of ethnic cleansing and from the many NAZI's inspired movies there was a massive ethnic cleansing of humans away from asbestos infected buildings, away from the epidemic of leprosy, cholera, polios, syphilis and other STD's and tuberculosis. The world is filthy and epidemic roamed planet earth and there's no cure whatsoever because penicillin was discovered only after World War II. Watch the last chapter of RESIDENT EVIL the movie and in that movie millions are infected with zombie virus. Is that movie sort of an exaggeration of what happened during the war? Or apocalyptic story is such a taboo subject and unbelievable story of today but those diseases that I mentioned above were dreaded diseases were of no cure before but at present time can be cured NOW because of the discovery of ANTIBIOTIC. It's the VIRUS that is without cure but vaccines and cocktail of drugs are administered to patients to take them whether they will be cured or not but probably to prolong their lives or to STOP the virus from spreading.
How many scientists do we have on planet earth? How many are indulge in the business of promoting safe and effective medicines? How many are using their brains to avoid infections? How many are aware of certain diseases or illness that it's okay to avoid humans who are infected with virus? It's for your own good and protection. That's why there is that "quarantine post" where the virus infected are placed and taken care of and hope that there will be cured for good.
Tonight at 6 pm the return of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD series will continue to scare us? LOL. What happened to the Clark family after getting out from the hotel? The hotel that was a place of an epidemic scare of zombie infected humans. Learn the art of survival and learn the art of running away from zombies.
Weather, weather, wether you like it or not.

All Work & No Fun?
How time flies and birthdays too, it flew too much and where else to go? Yey! It's the 6th month of the year of 2017. June is the month of summer heatwave, hope not! I hate hot weather. June is the start or beginning of this year's school year in the Philippines. It is the month of stormy weather, typhoons in Asian countries. June is "planting season." Planting rice is never fun but you have to plant anyways.
What we need to remember for this month of June? Let's have the Calendar of Events:
June 04 Fear The Walking Dead Series at AMC Returns
Marathon of Fear TWD from Season 2 Episode 7
11:50 am to 6 pm
RETURN of THE WALKING DEAD?
I remember the ad once stated it should be this month.
June 12 Philippine Independence
June 14 Flag Day
June 18 Father's Day
June 19 Dr. Jose P. Rizal's birth anniversary
June 19 Juneteenth
June 21 Summer Solstice - Beginning of Summer
June 24 Saint John de Baptist
Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries.
June is the month of school field trips, barbecue parties, painting, pressure washing, gardening, fishing, crabbing, swimming and camping.
Anything you can add or anything new such as collecting starfish, shellfish: oysters, mussels and clams at the bay.
Work, work, work!
Nothing's new at the island except we tried to bore each other because it's totally boring here!
Boredom gets in the way most of the time. We tried to entertain ourselves with computers and smart TV so that suicide is always prevented from happening.
Remember: Life is Good!
