"Dancing With The Wolves" the movie of Kevin Costner is back once again on our TV channel. I don't know how many times we have seen this old movie but it's good though. Hear or listen to Kevin how he narrates his ordeal during the war time period in 19th century. His kind of accent is "southern?" with a twang. This film is such an epic and all time classic. I remember watching this movie when I was in the Philippines and in the cinema many nuns and priests and seminarians watched that said movie too. Oh why? Why they love this movie of Kevin? You know Kevin Costner is a friend of Pope John Paul II. Every movies he made he asked the Holy Pope if he likes his acting and the story. Knowing the pope also is a stage actor in his younger years when he was still alive. The pope loves the cinema and the arts, film making is also what's in his mind. Kevin's many movies include the Post Man, Waterworld, and Time In A Bottle. The pope didn't like the Waterworld though for some reasons that well, unknown to us. What could be the reason eh?
So what's with "Dancing With The Wolves" then? It's not only an all time classic, an epic and most importantly it is meant to be "historical." Seeing the vast horizon, the wide open spaces, the frontier. When the infantry brigade officer asked Kevin why he wants to join them he answered, " I want to see the frontier before it's gone." Meaningful? Where is that frontier now where the millions of herds, buffallos run? The millions of caribboos and what else have you got?
Darn what kind of history we have when I posted the drawing I had years ago and it was not featured anymore in the old blog "Dreamy Colors." I wonder who deleted them. I cannot even get in to that old blog. I have the password I am the owner-writer of that blog and I cannot get in. Weird world. So strange and so mystifying. What the world has gone through is some people are willing to steal for the sake of what? When they can ask permission or have the courtesy to mention where they got it.
