Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, oh how I love thee! LOL. OMG! Ten days to Christmas. WE don't have the christmas tree for 2012. Yet...
Husband doesn't like artificial tree, he wants a fir tree instead the true real one that smells fresh fir tree. Fir tree or cedar tree which you think smells better?
I know some other families in the neighborhood have their christmas tree already because they are artificial that they have to decorate every year with special ornaments, be of star topper or beautiful dressed angels on top of the well-lit decorated trees.
Hubby bought x'mas wrapper for the presents he intended to give on Christmas day. I must admit not done with the shopping. It's hard to shop on this time of the year when the prices of goods are really high. To wait for the big sale? Rather wait for the Boxing Day which is on the 26th and probably you wont get what you want and most of all X'mas is over. So what's the point. Besides what do you want others to tell ya that you are so stiff and stingy you are buying cheap items for gift-giving.
Well, the truth is it is better to give than to receive as the saying goes. What about not receiving anything not even a cent? How would you feel? Totally disappointing right? How disgusting that would be especially if you are receiving every year and suddenly you did not receive anything.
Then how about this awful situation of you only want to receive gifts when you don't even give anything. You don't give a x'mas card nor any gift worth one dollar and you expect to receive gifts? That's very selfish right?
You know what? There is something I am proud about my children, my teens they are not choosy nor they ask me anything for Christmas. I have to ask them what they want to receive from Santa Claus. That was before, years ago when they were so young. Unlike other children who will go berserk or will get so upset if they don't receive any. Of course in this time and age when they know already that Santa is not real but fantasy they know for sure who's giving them presents every year at Christmas time.
I don't feel the spirit of Christmas in Canada. It's totally different here. We may have lots of food, gifts and decorations but surely it's a matter of one day celebration and after that it's back to normalcy as if nothing happened. The spirit of Christmas and its joyful celebration is lively and wonderful for a movie where people act towards the fulfillment of their wishes, towards a deeper meaning based on its plot and story, otherwise it is a get together of families and relatives plus friends in merry- making jolly kind of Chritmas. My christmas is not based on Chevy Chase's movie. Not that complicated ridiculous kind of lampoon's where too many unexpected happenings here and there. My Christmas is just simple and almost predictable. My Christmas is not based on evil unexpectations. Christmas is based on the truth, love and goodwill brought on good deeds. My kind of Christmas is a triumph over evil. I wish not to deceive others and hopefully no one deceives my good intention.
Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ the son of God. The baby Jesus born at the manger in Betlehem, where the first star of David rised up above heaven. The only son of God who will save us from all our sins and be our guide and saviour. If the SON is the first SUN up in heaven who are we then? The language is deeper beyond our grasp to comprehend. I am in humility not to gamble with words and express my own understanding of what really is the mystery behind what true God intends us to do in our lifetime.
Let me greet each one of you the very best of the season
MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
Love,
E. Verna Turner
