For the love of food especially if the food are deliciously delightful. When it comes to cooking my favorite viands no gimmick is needed to accomplish the task. All I need are the valid, complete ingredients and in barely just one hour the viand is cooked for lunch or dinner and we are happy to have a happy meal for the whole family to taste and enjoy.
However lately, I am being repetitive of what I'm cooking and I need to stop the repetition. So I cooked something different.
We bought young okra, eggplant and bittermelon for pinakbet. Those three common veggies are known in asian countries but not in the western world. Whenever I cooked this special viand my children only picked those tender meat and sauce for their steamed rice. My husband always had a frown on his face when I cooked this viand (once in a blue moon) because these veggies are not his favorites. Okra is slimy when cooked and has lots of white seeds inside, while the eggplant is mushy when cooked and bittermelon is bitter of course. I like bittermelon because it's good for lowering the blood pressure. For those people with high blood pressure this vegetable bittermelon is good for you.
This is the kind of food that makes them happy and put a smile on my family's face. Palabok is superbly tasty and delicious noodles with toppings of incredible yummy ingredients: ground pork, hard boiled eggs sliced thinly, shrimps, diced fried tofu, with hot spicy shrimp sauce, cooked to perfection. Garnish with thinly sliced cilantro and spring onions. For added spice, try sriracha sauce and squeeze calamansi juice.
For desserts: Blueberry-pineapple tidbits muffin and or apple turnovers.
Husband bought this turnovers from the supermarket and on its label was "Cherry" but turned out the turnovers were stuffed with "Apple."
I know that's weird! What the hell happened?
For my evening snack I preferred a feshly brewed hot coffee and raspberry swissrolls. T'was the night before the game...
