WRITING IS AN ACT OF EMPATHY.
What? Are you sure about that? I think it depends on what the subject of discussion or what the writer wants to express as his own thoughts in words and in deeds.
I empathize with so many people who are in poverty not because I am rich or wealthy because I am not. I empathize with other humans who are experiencing the same problems and odd situations wherein I don't have a solution. We all empathize with those war torn countries and their people who suddenly became homeless and refugees because for one thing and one thing only that we don't really know the cause of such war and why it happened. There is that conflict of interest why an "Act of God" never happen to stop the offenders. Who are on the right side and who are pretending to be on the right side and wrong sides. Who should win the war?

So, we are experiencing a gloomy expectation of what Spring like would be on calendar month of March 2022. Still dark outside at 9:30 am. I had my early morning breakfast at 4:38 am while watching the latest news on TV. The continuation of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. The Ukrainians got hold of the old Russian tanks and they thought they could use the tanks against their enemies. Can you differentiate a Russian from Ukrainian?
While hypersonic missiles? are being used for fastest, swift action to do the job of annihilation? to destroy old buildings or to reach the target. Also the Ukrainian farmers wont stop cultivating their lands intended for soy beans while jet planes soared above air space. Next, those journalist/reporters risking their lives trying to capture the war events being unfold in Ukraine and hid in the bunker or basement of a concrete building while shots were fired into the next building. Those are the stories of war which I empathize with them as in they brought news to their news stations and the public have to rely on the news report they broadcasted on televisions, believing every story has merit and we have to believe the messengers.
Another news: China airline crashed down somewhere in China. No other news after that because investigation takes quite a while.
Empathy is more like being compassionate on what those humans have to deal with in times of crisis. Words and stories are written based on critical assessment, evidence, messages relayed by trustworthy news reporters/messengers. Otherwise, to see is to believe.
