My God!!!!! My blog is becoming an open book. Or more like "komiks" minus strips of images or illustrations. I remember when too many Filipino folks young and old alike waiting for their favourite komiks series. Those novels under the creations of Mars Ravelo and Hal Santiago. Those were the days when my Lola Honorata used to sell and rent komiks at our small balcony. The komiks were hang on a cord like as if they are laundry clothes fastened with clips so tht they wont be blown away by wind. We have at least more than 200 komiks such as: Lagim, SSS, TSS, Liwayway, Bulaklak, etc, etc I can no longer remember the rest of the titles. It was in the year 1966 to 1969. Althugh I still remember the novels such as the Black Orchid that the Vanderbilts want to find in the jungle somewhere in Borneo, and then in Africa because that black orchid can cure the Mother's strange ailment. Then another series that every patrons want to read are the story of Zuma, Monte Zuma and the many snakes. Then "Putol" the infamous crocodile. Also the cartoon characters such as Kenkoy and Rosing, Max and Jess, Nognog, Ping and pong, and few other not famous characters. Avid komiks readers waited in line for their turn to have a chance to read those weekly series. Imagine you'll wait for a week just to find out what happened to their favorite komiks novels. In the 70's the same kind of folks are still hooked on reading komiks which is the usual normal hobby of Filipinos. That young children can already read at age 4. Their curiousity to the reading materials made them literate. They copy what the parents, siblings are doing. READING. Listening to the radio's zarzuela or drama made them attentive even at school. Reading and listening is not a problem to school children in those years. Thank God. Every parents thanked the Lord God they have kids who are polite and courteous and most of all respectful to elders.
Then C H A N G E S happened instantly. Culture shock! Televisions abound. Technology flourished and bingo > the normal cultural traditional that is known to Filipino children and adults vanished. Children born after 1985 you'll find out the many "side effects" of the modern technology. I don't like to name names but it brought the House down. You can pin point the many lazy people. Oh well did I hear some commotions outside. That you can blame who?
Not me of course. I did my share of enlightenment. God's enlightenment is the BIG BANG THEORY.
