Thank God It's Friday!
TGIF. The best things in life are free. However the food I'm cooking is not free. The food from raw meat, dairy products, veggies, etc are bought from the supermarket. It would be nice if we have free delivery of free food but everything in this world is not free. Where can we get free food? Ahahahaha! There is no such thing as free food. If you probably have free food it's because you volunteered for a cause and you are paid with free food. Or you volunteered in a food bank.
You attended a party and the food is free but still is you have to bring gifts for the celebrant. Attending to a club party that offers free food but you have to pay ticket to enter their gate or door.
Nothing is free after all. This is what is free... surprise your friends by going to their house at the exact time where they are having lunch or supper. Seems to be a great idea, right? That's a normal situation in Philippines. Always arrive when the family is at the dining room having their meal and surprise, you'll be asked to sit down with them and have the same kind of meal they are having. Normal hospitable trait that every Filipino possessed as a good trait hands down from one family to another. Is that the same situation here in Canada or in America? Maybe, maybe not. It depends actually.
The only people who knocks or rings door bell by surprise are the religious people from Jehovah Witnesses, neighbors borrowing something, strangers, children who sell chocolates and those girl guide cookie vendors and children who asked for empty softdrink cans. Recently, there are early door to door campaigners for political parties vying votes for the next Federal Election.
Why you have to call first (use your telephone and or cellphone) before you go to somebody elsès house or even to your friend or relatives in Canada, America or in Europe. It is the right thing to do.
You know why? This is my own opinion:
1. Maybe I'm not in the best mood and I will slam the door at you. Maybe I don't like to see your face and I wont open the door.
2. Maybe I'm cleaning the toilet and the dirt is all over my clothes YUCK (that didnèt happen in real life) and I'm perspiring from
washing the socks at the utility tub or maybe I was sweating while cleaning the oven at the time when you ring the door bell.
3. Maybe I'm chopping onions and garlic and the stains are all over my shirt and the scent sticks to my clothes. Maybe I am cooking and the odor from the food that I am cooking sticks with the clothes and apron. Have you been to an enclosed food court in the mall. Go there and when you arrive home, smell your clothes and you will find out what I mean.
4. Maybe we are not at home and nobody will open the door for you.
5. It's best to CALL FIRST so that you will be welcome with smiles and hugs when you arrive instead of being frowned upon.
6. Canadians are courteous people. You are Canadian if you follow such kind of good manners.
7. I am not Canadian but I like courtesy and being courteous and punctual are the mark of being Canadian.
IF YOU ARE CANADIAN! Are you É (supposedly a question mark but the stupid hacker is back) There is that symbol of a French there. Frankie. Yeah maybe I will wear a Frankenstein mask to scare you at the door.
