Whirlwind Fantasy, ACTION & Adventure

Told my hubby to start reading the book of WS, there are at least 3 new books he hasn't read yet but then he asked me to re-read ASSEGAI. What the hell, is that boss level or what? He informed me that he read that book too many times over and he knew that it was Wilbur Smith who wrote ASSEGAI and other hundred books in his collection. Unlike the latest novels with another authors to fill in the "void?" ha?! What?

So I read the ASSEGAI to find out. Mr. Wilbur Smith's style of writing "by himself only" without another author is more concise, clear, vivid and much easy to understand. With another author joining his writing, it's kind of more like a great spin. You'll get dizzy at first then you have to re-read again and again because what those characters had said, I forgot and lost with the overtly too much adjectives, pompous adverbs and too much scenery to add almost a bulging conundrum of fantasized of what a wide eyed superhuman you are to spot what surrounds the cast of characters. Truth is, it is really a  mind boggling spin. Like the writer wants you to see everything from the ground, to eye level, up in the sky, the air they breathe and what their senses can smell, hear, feel and touch. You wonder why the story ends up sometimes to over 400+ pages.

So once again, followed the patriarch of the house and read the book. How Leon Courtney came into the picture. It was August 9, 1906, Leon was a handsome younger man, 19 years old and he was a 2nd Liuetenant, a soldier, with a tall black man, his rightman actually  named Manyoro who happened to be a marksman and in this situation they will became acquainted as friends while they escaped a tragic death from black vicious warriors who only want nothing but death to the white skinned humans who happened to be in their path. Vicious killings, barbaric and insult hard to imagine as the victims were drowned before they were slayed with sharp panga. The victims: man, two women whose mouths were wide open and their mouths drenched with stinking, rancid smell of urine. They were drowned not of water but urine from the baboons. Only baboons will do that, Manyoro said to Leon. Crazy? It is insane! Why white people have to suffer such humiliating death, insult and savagery?

OMG! The first 40 pages of Assegai is really a matter of whether you have the guts to read further the adventure of Leon Courtney and Manyoro.

According to the statement of the author WS, his novels are product of fiction. I repeat it's FICTION.

What made me read ASSEGAI is because after reading the last part of Leon Courtney's saga then I wonder what is his legacy and what made him the man who he is and why is he different from white vicious, wealthy, elite, aristocratic, landowners in Africa.

Why the setting is always in Africa? Because the author was born in Central Africa, that's why.

Do I like Blacks and Africans? NO. It is okay not to like somebody but you don't have to harm them. That doesn't mean you are racist or being judgy about them. It's just that it happened that few them are not likeable. It's the same thing that some people from other race are not likeable. Some, not all of them.

I am not racist but why you think I am married to a White person?

To be continued, later.

What to eat? Don't you feel hungry when you read books? I could have snack of chips and pop but what the hell whatever is served on the table or counter then that's food for the gods.

Yummy bbq spare ribs, veggie salad with dill dressing, panfried sliced potatoes, spaghetti, rice, and watermelon. Yey! I LOVE WATERMELON.
