Go Shop Around

So many expenses lately. Why in this month of the year? November the peculiar month of the year is not only the busiest it is the start of early shopping spree. It is the busiest time, month, second to month of December for buying and selling.

Videos I watched recently about people in the Philippines would rather shop now for Christmas gifts and raw food: meat, canned goods, juice boxes and softdrinks. Reason for this is it's better too early than too late. The most experienced shoppers would like to have the products and materials now instead of cramming up later in the month of December because by that time the supply is not enough and the price of commodities are too high.

To believe in the economist's point of view with the law of supply and demand:

"If the price is high, the demand is low."

"If the demand is high, the price is low."

Different countries have different idea and opinion when it comes to the supply and demand of products and demand for labor.

In the Philippines when there's greater demand for raw materials such as lumber and electronics the sellers would increase the price. It should be low price for those commodities right? This is also so true with food, raw food like rice and other grains. Then when the demand for some products are very low they will lower the price so that they can sell them right away.

The Chinese family that I know who owns a variety store offers discount on their products and less profit for every product they sell to their customers. Know why? They want to sell all their products right away before they expire. You keep marking products too high and nobody buys them until their products become useless and they gained nothing because of greed. This is so true with food, and other so called non-perishable food canned goods with markings of the date of expiry. Make sure you bring your magnifying lens when you're shopping so that you wont fall victim to those greedy shop owners. Label. Watch for the labels carefully.

Did you know that cosmetic products have expiry date too? I bought an expensive make- up and lipstick considering they are costly and of good quality compared with the rest of other low quality brand but don't be fooled of the brand for they might lead you to buying expired products that they keep selling for so many years. Expensive brand name products don't guarantee it's the best kind of consumer products. Buyer's beware!

My son will have to replace his eyeglasses handle. It's the same problem that my husband's eyeglasses' handle problem before. Expensive eyewear! Handles are cheap. Why? So that you can go back again for another one? Weird! I bought an eyeglasses in the Philippines for only P1,000 it's a good brand name but durable. The appointment, prescription and time of waiting to have it done in matters of one hour all included in that amount P1,000 only! I don't think there are optometrist or eye doctor who can do such good service here in Canada. That's one thing I have to thank in Philippines. You can ask for discount right at the time of buying.  They know the value of hardworking people and there are people who are not greedy to suck oxygen from their valued customers so that they can still breathe and manage to see the way where they are going.

Shop around. Don't just concentrate on one store. That's the power of consumers. You have the right to choose after all you have a mind of your own.
