Monday blues? Nahh... It's Monday I might as well post something here pretend that it's a working regular day. Besides I'm documenting what big catch my husband had to make sure that fishing is really worthy. It is indeed worthy! Think that a fillet of salmon in the supermarket weighing only 15 lbs. is worth over $30.00 and crab the size of the plate is worth $ 15 to $20/each.
How about this gorgeous crab bigger than a plate? Measuring this crab from left claw to right claw including it's body is 21 inches long. I didn't measure the back just the front. If I have to stretch the claws which I have a hard time stretching it maybe the whole crab is 22 " to 23" long. Yeah that big eh? So, this is the biggest crab he caught and it's a male crab. The biggest crabs are the females but in Canada you should not catch the female crabs because they are left in the ocean to lay more eggs. How much would this big crab's worth in the market? It's probably $24/each.
This is the ling cod that Lorne caught from BC waters. It's probably 16 inches long. He fillet the fish nice and easy. He's skilled in the cleaning and cutting of fish to perfection. I think he learned it from his Dad and Mom who were also avid fishermen.
I told you when there's that marathon of "Tremors" the movie about the underground monsters, there'll be lots of sale of pork loins in the supermarket. QF had those fresh pork loins and my husband avail of such sale before the price goes up. It's better to stock up before autumn and winter comes. It's the right thing to do.
As you may have noticed that hunters go hunting now and so as the fishermen fishing for more loads of fish and crabs and other seafood to have that availability of supply. A reminder that living in a four seasons region you must know how to stock and store food in freezer and shelves either of perishable and non-perishable food or be sorry.
