Finished Projects: Zabrina style chinese blouse and East indian costume with religious designed print -relic of deity
Hectic schedule for me today thinking about the " to do list" makes me feel dizzy. I'm so glad that I was able to buy some items I need for my next sewing project. Finishing touches for the 4 zabrina style blouses were done accordingly and in time. The only problem is I have to lose weight and my daughter has to gain at least 2 to 3 pounds of weight so that I don't need to alter the blouse I made for her.
I showed the finished project to my sister Ems and she praised me real good for having the talent to accomplish such task. It was a painstakingly difficult to sew a very delicate fabric. Not only you have to change the needle of the sewing machine few times, change the right thread, and most of all to provide the right textured back lining for the shiny, satiny fabric that I used. Apply oil into the machine when it get's rusty or having that funny clank sound.
Together with my sister we found some few textiles that were on sale at the store. Can't find what I was looking for then I moved on to the other store next to it where hundreds of rolls of textile are located. That store is my mini-divisoria. Too many choose from the wide array of assorted fabric design, color, textured, embossed, you name it it's all there. From textile variety such as: silk, cotton, rayon, wool, linen, chenile, chiffon, stretch, tencel, cashmere, pinna ( made from pineapple fibre), fleece, corduroy, charmese, canvas, denim, eyelet, doubleknit, gabardine, faux fur, felt, floral, ganze, gingham, jacquard, lace, lining, metallic, micro fibre, mink, moleskin, dilcloth, organza, paisley, pique, plaid, poplin, print, satin, sheer sucker, shamtung, shirting, slinky stripes, suede, velvet, fabric for upholstery and quilted materials. They also have a wide selection of thread, buttons, and zipper and ribbons. I could live in that store for the rest of my life and I'll be the happiest ever by just staring at those materials. I mean I could probably be sitting and doing the many projects I have in my mind.
My sister was once employed in a textile research institute and she knows best the best material ever for any clothing garment and accessories. While my knowledge about textile started when my Mother used to sew clothes mostly dress including the Vietnamese momo dress in 1968. Besides, my college thesis also has something to do with raw silk production.
Oh I love textiles! My fondness for the weaving technology has engrossed my curiousity to creativity. I do hope it offers a glimpse of yourself when clothing is absolutely a basic necessity. The kind of clothing you wear is sometimes a reflection of your own personality. Believe it or not.
