As the saying goes, we cannot always stand by the bridge or else we'll end up like trolls. There are lots of land connecting the other parts of the land. There are too many boats, ships and ferries to cater all the people from all walks of life wanting to reach their own destination, stay and live where great opportunity awaits them. Not that I'm saying that there is no opportunity in the main island but simply to re-assure that whatever suits your own potential and skills.
The main Vancouver is truly a place where opportunity knocks for the new immigrants where schools and universities are 'abundant in nature' due to its population bigger than the rest of the cities in British Columbia. No doubt that the bigger cities have better access to transportation, government service, private corporations, business establishments but the point is what really is in demand. Demand for labor and demand for supply always taking place in a very populated land. That's always been the case no matter what. But to live in a sub-urban city you need to have a good job, high paying job to be able to afford a convenient way of life or else you'll end up homeless.
We're almost the first one to arrive at the ferry dock. Thank goodness for the reservation. After few minutes more vehicles small and large sizes: trucks, cars and vans including commercial vehicles, harley davidson group of bikers arrived before the boarding time to depart. There are foot passengers too. It was peak season when the BC Ferries run almost non-stop. Sometimes there are about 12 sailings schedule from each terminal daily to accomodate the public from Nanaimo to the mainland Vancouver or Vancouver to Nanaimo terminal. The crossing takes one hour and 35 minutes at the most. Within that time period you can have your meal or snacks at their cafeteria inside the ferry boat. You can browse and shop at their souvenir shop with all products available at your own convenience. They have a special bookstore section beside the magazine and newspaper rack. There's a mini playground for children eqipped with video game arcade, there are public phone, access to computer and laptop hook-up connection. There are smoking and non-smoking deck. Too many available seats from the cafeteria to all sides of the ferry, from the left side to the right side and through the hull. Ferry is way convenient way to travel by sea because not only you can have your vehicles parked at the deck of the boat you have the chance to see what's happening outside the boat, enjoy the sightseeing of other boats passing by, view the mountains and small islands. Sad to say we didn't see any orca or blue whales from the ocean. I think you need to book a special tour to be able to view such magic nature splendor of whale watching.
For the most part be contented to see some odd guys who seemed to look like people you only see on movies and TV. No screaming please. Nothing to scream about. Everyone on board are "almost celebrities." Or have ties with with celebrity so nothing's so special.
Ferry boat's 22 knots? We arrived safely on time and it's time to have that long driving once again.
Nope it's not sunrise! The blinding bright of the sun setting down is somewhat nostalgic. How's that? Sunset here in Canada and sunrise in asian countries.
Weird sun that day. It's brighter and huge. Yeah the diameter of that sun in that period of time is somewhat peculiar. I wonder why.
Almost close to our final destination. A lot of cloud changes in the night sky. Ha! I am being nostalgic of how Galileo had that moment of awe while he tried to discover the movements of Venus and other satellites and how those movements affect all the guiding theories made by Aristotle.
Happy, geeky, sad, emotional and I've discovered something for myself while the rest of "them" have to discover something for themselves.
