Officially, today is THANKSGIVING DAY in CANADA and COLUMBUS DAY in the United States of America.
Why we celebrate Thanksgiving Day when "everyday" is a time to give thanks and praise, first to our Lord God Almighty, to our beloved family, relatives and friends for their good deeds.
However, today is the celebration of Canadians who honor and respect the bountiful harvest of their crops from their plantation. So, this is something to do with farmers who owned farmlands and their harvest meant a lot for them as much as it beneficial for us because we are the consumers. As they celebrate their bounty they also invited with them the natives who were part of the celebration. I don't need to elaborate their treaty and their deals with the offering of their best crops but pumpkins always been the symbol of the great harvest. Why not include wheat and turkey and grapes for the best wine. Cheers?!
Have you been to the pumpkin festival where young and olds came to appreciate the biggest pumpkin and the contest rewards the giant pumpkin ever grown and harvested? Intriguing on how they can manage to raise such giant pumpkin. What kind of care and fertilizer they used to have such giants?
Anyway, I'll be very busy today with the preparation and roasting of turkey and other essential viands to go with it. I already baked blueberry cupcakes (with shredded zucchini and banana), had the fruit cocktail salad prepared and cooled in the fridge. More tasks to do at the kitchen later.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!
May it always be fruitful, bountiful, merry and joyful ... happiness abound in our place called HOME.
