Shop Till You Drop?

After I posted the sentiments I had my telephone rings and well the "usual suspect" phoned me. You know she's always the first one to being aware of the consequences. Guilty agad eh. He he. Maybe afraid.

Afraid that her conscience will bother her again and wont be able to sleep. Okay enough of this time to change the topic.

It was before New Year when my son wants to rent a DVD from Blockbuster only to be upset that the big DVD store shuts down. What do you mean I asked him. It turned out the big store closed down for good. They are out of business in our tiny community of less that 50,000 people. Then I think about how that store will close down. I looked at our TV and and the connection and how much we paid for monthly subsc. to the T. network. Hundred dollars per month as payment with at least more than 50 channels to choose from and at least five movie channels. One VOD channel wherein you can order a newly released movie and watch it at the convenience of your home. But you have to pay extra for thsese movies on VOD. One movie costs $5.00 or $7.00 depends on the company's price per showing. You can click it right thr. your TV with the help of your remote control gadget. That's plain easy to control and you'll receive the details of payment at the end of the month. So with this kind of  easy access Blockbuster is no longer the store of choice here in this community. You don't need to drive going to that store. Is that good?

Then the news of Zellers closing down is a surprise also. It's a Hudson company. Uhm, what's happening? Big box store buying smaller stores or rather this is sort of integrating two stores in one. With the big box store Target from the USA coming here to Canada competing with the many stores here the competition will be such a fascinating rounds of discount items. That could be it. Very competitive. It's like they have to provide new gimmicks for their customers. It's like a "food fight" and be the resources of  mind 'ya "intelligence" if there is. lol

Zellers + Walmart getting married. Assumed that's the real deal. Getting bigger and wiser! Then Target ? Is Target a good company? Let us see and find out.

If they can copy the popularity and convenience of SHOEMART of Philippines the deal could have been sweeter, wiser and popular. What Shoemart got? They have the convenience of an Edmonton Mall so big that you'll become a dwarf to its arcade of  "everything in it in one store,  it has the food court, supermarket, parking space, park and amusement park, it's like a big community in a covered space." You can fit in a golf cart and drive through it while you shop. Can you build a commercial establishment like that?

If that happens maybe it's a shop till you drop scenario...all over again.
