Our Very Own Fisherman Caught Big Fish!

How fortunate my husband to have caught salmons today. It was amazing! It was at a very early morning, at dawn actually that he got ready, prepared what he needs,  to go boating and fishing together with brother-in-law. The weather is perfect and favorable today and just like the weather temperature that is very cooperative for fishing off they go to the place where they think there are lots of fish.

There are many boaters, hopeful that today, Saturday is the right time to go fishing and might as well enjoy the awesome good weather right along the blue waters of the ocean.

Look at that perfect horizon. The spectacular view, just close to the Quadra's famous fabulous light house where the boat nestled to catch those fresh fish.

My husband called me after an hour that I'd better talk to my son Ty to inform him that they caught three salmons already: Spring salmons and Chinook.

After an hour I called back and asked what's happening and it seems to me that the reception or the signal is clear enough for me to hear his voice.

From the island to that area where they are fishing the signal is really clear.

Good news! They caught a 25 lbs salmon! Meaning one of the salmons weighs 25 lbs. The fourth one.
Wow!

Right away, Lorne and Romy arrived home with their precious catch which I think when those 4 salmons are sold to market, probably worth $500 at least.

How I cooked those fresh salmons? First Lorne cleaned the fish and cut them and sliced them one by one . Fillet them properly. Some chunks are placed in  Ziploc bags and stored in the freezer for future use. A bag of fillet fish was given to our friendly neighbor Andre'.

The other halves were cut into big chunk and I cut it into two fillets for viand.

One fillet of fish inside the fridge was used for grilled fish steak with mango chili marinade.

Two pieces of the fillet were then sprinkled with dash of salt, ground pepper and ground oregano. Put two tablespoon of butter so that when it melts on hot baking pan the flavor will spread on all sides of the fish. Of course the result is yummy, tasty and delicious salmon. Simple taste not doctored flavor is the best of all the best.

Or maybe because the fish is so fresh you can smack it real good.

Now what? The husband is planning another fishing escapade and maybe this time he can catch halibut, rock cod or my favorite  blue fin tuna.

Who knows? Tuna and halibut in our ocean along the Passage? Hmmmm... I wish there are tuna and halibut along the waters in our ocean. I wish. I wish. I wish.

Whatever! My daughter is not thrilled at all. She was unhappy that our  39" TV burnt out and was acting crazy, blinking, pulsating lights and there's darkness on the picture screen. What could be the real problem? Overheat? Tsk! tsk! It was only less than one year. We can't find the warranty or guarantee certification so... Her Dad doesn't like seeing her daughter so sad and almost about to cry that he bought a new TV for her. It's only 32" TV this time but it's okay and it was on sale. We might as well buy it and he bought it before the department store raise the price of their televisions at the electronics department..

We're watching the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." It was sci-fi movie about permafrost when suddenly the whole America was frozen below negative zero instantly without a warning. Slow, gradual change of weather with a warning can be understood and you can prepare but in this movie the ultimate extreme instant rapid change of global coldest temperature is fatal to humanity.  Suspense, drama and emotional trauma movie on how to survive in extreme global disaster.

But of course watch the very first scene of this movie. While the scientists are out there at the middle of the iceberg in Antarctica drilling "fossils" buried beneath those ice then suddenly one scientist noticed that the ice shelf cracks, it rattles and shakes  and the long break line cracked open and separated the iceberg into two land mass of ice. What could be the reason? Global warming? Darn! You're drilling the solid ice mass at the middle and those holes? How many holes they drilled?

Get a puncher and punch holes along a straight line on bond paper and look what happened. On paper the desired holes will stay the same as holes but if you punch holes on solid ice and the sun is so hot up in the sky, it's not snowing so no ice to fill up the holes, there's no river or lake on that iceberg.  It was solid mass of ice but the heat of the sun can melt the iceberg easily because of the effect of punctured holes. Also because what lies beneath underneath the solid iceberg is not solid mass of land but water. Ice berg floats on water, most of them though. It's not about science. It's about common sense.
