My husband who was tired after work decided to set prawn traps and crab traps near Cape Mudge. I first thought he was just cleaning the boat and then later he was out of sight miles away on the ocean. It was cold out there and windy, unlike in our area. It doesn't look or feel winter here. Shocking eh? This is the warmest Christmas holidays I experienced in Canada, without snow. It felt weird.
Anyway, millions of Canadians are probably praying for a spring weather not winter weather.
Husband ordered a big chunk of pork for roast (lechon). He was asking for a whole pig from the butcher but they don't have a small size pig and besides it wont fit our oven. We only roasted 1/3 of the pork chunk enough for my family and another family to share this Christmas Eve dinner.
So, what you can see on the counter and table are the kind of food we had for our Christmas Eve dinner:
Roast turkey with stuffing, gravy, roast pork, special noodles or pancit, prawns, crabs, steamed brusselsprouts, boiled potatoes, macaroni-chicken salad, ginger beef. halibut on creamy mushroom casserole, steamed rice, embutido.
Desserts:
Fruit salad, blueberry-pineapple cake, fresh fruits.
My sister and her family brought the embutido, spicy crab flakes, butter-tarts for dessert.
After a hearty dinner and some small talk, etc, etc.
We watched the action-comedy movie: "Let's Be Cops."
You have to watch it because this movie is action-packed filled movie with right-timing comedy.
My sister and her family brought gifts for my family.
It was sort of an exchange gifts. We gave them our gifts before they left to attend mass.
Cheers!
