I don't like the idea of front porch approach nor the back porch approach. j/k. Whatever! I watched HGTV Channel almost everyday and see what's happening at FIXER UPPER or the BEACH HOUSE HUNTING, etc. whatever that interest me. It seems like Americans love staying at the front porch of their house and they even build hammocks or swings just to stay at the front of their house. Their patio is located at the front not at the backyard. I was thinking whether Filipinos are the same? The front yard is larger than the backyard of course. Children used the front yard as their playground facing the road and across the neighbor's house with big yard too at the front of their house leaving a small space at the backyard sometimes no backyard at all just the fence that separates other people's houses.
Canadians love their privacy. The backyard and the patio at the back of their house give them the privacy and preying eyes of neighbors. The backyard is a place for families and friends having barbecue or get together beside for the most affluent families with swimming pool. Americans like what was happening at the front, see their neighbors and anything or anybody that walks outside their house. They are like guardians at the front porch.
For those who really are into privacy they want to live in secluded places almost like nomads away from civilization in remote places. Cabin in the woods? How's that? Oh no! Not my kind of life. Living alone or with just your family in a secluded area, away from everybody, too far away from supermarket, church, schools and hospitals? OMG! That's que horror!
No man is an island and you are not a contestant of ALONE survival series. Even SURVIVORS contestants have problem being with just 30 other people with them that never seem to get along. BIG BROTHER's the same with that technique and strategy.
Now what? The front porch and back porch approach has something to do with sunrise and sunset. Where the sun rises and sun sets down. Feng shui? It has something to do where cool breeze sways, it's the wind...it has something to do with the sway of cooler air and the wind on how it sails of course you are "the boat" and you know where you can sail it through the wind.
In all these musings... whatever that makes you happy facing the East or the West. Who wants to face the North and South?
