Hot, humid and airless. Can't feel the air today. I just couldn't believe that at 18 degrees centigrade our house is compared to a hot house. As if we are inside the oven. All the fan works properly, the aircon is on but for just few hours and then have it off because of the hydro bill which is staggering close to $500!!!!! Shocking huh!? How the hell that happened? The house is really big and all the fans are rotating all hours everyday. I do the laundry twice or three times a day or depends on how many linens and towels and how many times my kids changed their clothes. We have two medium sized freezer, and a big fridge and I cooked everyday. The oven is used more often than not. We have electric heating and gas fireplace. Is that all what adds up to the hydro bill consumption and usage? Ah, yes my sewing machine is powered by electricity. We have television sets and computers + laptop so that maybe is the reason why the bill is so high. Then to shower and bath everyday with hot water that too contributes. Or there is something wrong with the "meter?"
Our neighbor was asked about the "smart meter" and he turned it down and said NO with the big post sign on the meter watch display on the wall of their house. My husband was asked too if he wants the smart meter. He is opposed too. The point of the smart meter is having to have one regular price tag for the hydro usage no matter how much electricity the whole household used in a month.
I asked my husband if that $500 is for the payment for one month. It turned out it was for two months. I felt relieved at least it's for two months. I first thought it was only for one moth and I will go berserk. lol. From what I heard the electric bill in the Philippines is more expensive and they don't use hot water there. Know what $250/month is too much to tell you the truth. I think the meter has problem and needs to be checked. I wonder if we're the only complainers here. Or it's because it's really hot here in this part of the world during summer that the heatwave is suffocating and there is much use for air conditioning. The heat is so hot that no amount or aircon or fan wave can sustain the drought. Okay I know you feel the same way and you are praying for cold showers at summer time. Why not eh? At least we wont pay that kind of weather. But to think that summer time is the only time when kids are on vacation and want to explore outside, boating , swimming, camping, go hiking, biking, trails, play balls at the field, and summer time job like pressure washing exterior parts of building, houses, boats, and painting walls and fences. So ---it's a matter of what is more important to do and what pleases you after all summer time in this part of the land is short and winter time is longer. Patience and perseverance is the key for this week.
