Do Nothing. Know Nothing?

Pulp Mill in Campbell River (Duncan Bay)
Campbell River was once the richest city in Vancouver island because of the industry it boasts for so many years. It was a city rich in mining, pulp and paper, saw mills, fishing industry, canning and other source of income for many inhabitants.

The pulp mill in Duncan Bay once known as the Crown Zellerbach in its prime industry until lately bought by another company to the last company known as Catalyst. It was the vital source primary source of employment for thousands of people here in Campbell River. Because of this company that employed 4,000-5,000 employees in different kind of trades brought income and definitely multiple revenues for the island. Young people, old people benefited from this source of employment. Young apprentices were accepted and trained. Newly graduates from High School were accepted to be trained in the trades. Amazing! The economic condition of the city of Campbell River was a triumph at its best.

However, when the pulp mill closed down, one after another connected to this source of major employment also shut down their business. It was like a domino-effect. Thousands of people had lost their jobs. Unemployment is unfortunately felt like a depression hard to cure. Many families, in thousands,  sold their houses and properties and moved out to much greener pastures. They moved and settled to where there is pulp mill  only to be devastated when those pup mills also shut down their business. I know that's double whammy for the newly arrivals of employees who already suffered from the loss before.

What happened next? Industry that puffed out smoke in the sky are prohibited and the Tokyo protocols they followed during that period of time what's next is next to impossible. What to do
so that the air is clean and purified? So that the water is pristine clean, pure and simple water that you can safely drink, bathe and use for cooking?  You wont like it... DO NOTHING!

Do not ever move. Do nothing. Can you manage not doing anything? Can you live without the major source of income or revenue for the city? Is that a trick implemented so that those bad people can ruin your economy? So that other cities will flourish and their economy thrives? Stiff competition. Strategic plan that diminish revenue and brought revenues to others? Outwit, outplay. Is there a triple trick somewhere and it landed at the island? Who was the Master planner at that time? People crying out foul that they had cancer caused by smoke in another country and came here that their cancer came from here? The cause of their cancer is from here? If that's the case how come so many inhabitants here still alive after 80 to 100 years because of the pulp mill? Or the smoke in their place is much a bigger problem and they blame the mill here. Weird. I think there is that structural problem or limited knowledge that is not well understood in the past. I think mess should be cleaned where those mess are. If one country cannot provide the clean-up of a spill then the people suffered. It is a clean up from one country to another. Cancer is hereditary. If it runs in your family within your genes (chromosomes), from the basic components of your DNA and RNA and if they don't fit then you must acquit? The chromosomes of every human being must FIT to function perfectly. If one chromosome do not fit perfectly inside your body or within your human genome something will eventually do injustices and will cause the body to break causing sickness, illness,  malady sort of hard to cure. For every infection there is known that remedy called antibiotic for fast healing.

At present time, the city is known as the "Salmon Capital of the World." For so many years salmons are abundant, in abundance in this part of the world that's why it is the capital of salmon fishing. Seafood is rich and aqua marine products are plentiful. Campbell River became a nature at its best for fishing, boating, kayaking, tour destinations for young and adults, it is now the center for seniors' activities. It is now the home for aged people being cared for trusted, caring caregivers. There are more old people than young people. It is becoming a destination for eco-tourism.  That's right, the move towards peace and progress land Campbell River as the tourist's destination that's why there is that cruise ship dockyard for stop over or gas stop for any river cruises needing a fill up. What has added in this city are many restaurants, fast food services and small retail outlets. There are major big box stores such as Superstore, Staples, Walmart, Home Depot, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and Discovery foods. The population is low (less than 50,000 pop.) and yet there are many commercial establishments and fast foods are way too many. Wow! People love to eat in this part of the island. Dining is part and way of life. I know and aware that the local inhabitants love to cook their own food but maybe meals from different people with culinary expertise much deserved other people's taste and choice.
