I was ready, get set , go and in the mood to get out for the day of shopping out in the next city but then hubby said later and later seem to be long hours waiting. I put my make up on, had a shower then only to prepare a meal for lunch. What the heck, it's okay not a rush. There's always pasta waiting to be thawed from the freezer. This time it's not tortellini but borsetti. It's pasta similar to dumplings with minced italian sausage in it.
To further explain the description it's better to provide an image of what kind of pasta is borsetti and as usual additional ingredients on the chopping board for added flavor to the food that I'm cooking. After lunch we drove to the next city to shop for our monthly grocery. This is how we do it, stock non perishable food and frozen food unlikely not the usual grocery shopping in my country of origin wherein we used to buy our food for the day almost everyday. Imagine going to the supermarket or wet market every day. Not here. The supermarket here is too far away from where we live. While going to the next city is about less than 30 minutes by driving if we use the express highway.
At the store: Costco
My husband wants to buy some hanging baskets for the front porch but can't find a decent one at the store. The plants don't have much flower on it. The hanging baskets were mostly of mixed florals but not in bloom yet. There are so many shrubs to choose from, perrenials, annuals, pots of tropical plants are also available such as banana plants and anahaw. I couldn't believe that there are so many anahaw there. Anahaw tree or that fan-like palms that thrive mostly in Quezon province. Lovely palm trees with superbly incredible leaves, that's why it was chosen national leaf in the Philippines. There are so many pots of healthy young cedar trees too.
We're about to enter the supermarket section of the store when suddenly I saw some flying bumble bees. They are so big, chubby kind of bees. You know not just an ordinary bee. Chubby and chunky! I couldn't resist not having to take photograph of those bees. They flew right there on the potted azalea plants. I ran over there and chased them.
Those bees are crazy! There were fierce and fast. Can't get a quick snapshot of them. So my photography with bees is a failure. One big bee is hanging there at the azalea...hiding. The rest of the bees flew in different direction.
Anyway, why bother chasing those weird insects...when there are so many beautiful tulips right there closer to the door.
How many species of tulips now? Maybe in thousands... Every time there are new variety, new species to look up to.
Once upon a time, tulips have only those primary bright colors to choose from.
Nowadays you'll have trouble choosing which one is the best and which one is perfect.
Tulips, tulips you are one of a kind. May you bloom in perfection and shower us with delight.
Outside Costco after an hour shopping there was some sort of spectacle in the sky. OMG! Snowbirds flying high in Comox. Super sonic!
You know how I feel... That too eh? Sorry my digital camera is not equipped with stabilizer or those zoom lens that can reach the sun, the moon, the stars and beyond.
I enjoyed the snowbird show by just watching them flaunt their death-defying stunts. Loop the loop and sommersault loop, the bigger loop is fascinating. Reminds me of the loop we had riding the roller coaster in Hong Kong. It was the most shocking, terrifying ride I had. It would be my first and last ride with roller coaster.
At home, while hubby is unloading stuff from the truck I'm already preparing meal for supper. After two hours and half, supper is ready and my family enjoyed dinner as always.
Let's eat! Enjoy what a difference a day makes.
